How it began..........
I had flirted briefly with patchwork when I lived in Dublin in the 90's, and after moving to Athboy, enrolled in Boyne Community Schools evening class programme.
After a few short classes with Christina Donoghue I was hooked. Her patience and skill as a teacher ensured that I, along with many others in the locality, was converted and year after year we re-enrolled. As we became more confident, we embarked on larger projects and this was when the lack of fabrics became apparent - it was Hickeys or UK/USA.
The idea of an online shop was born - low risk, no premises required and no outlay other than stock.
So was born "Just Cotton" - the name being a response to all the calls I got looking for curtain fabrics, polycotton, polyester etc -"Sorry - I sell just cotton!".
After only 12 months online, I noticed that while online sales were healthy, most customers that lived close enough to call, did so - which prompted me to investigate the idea of a real shop.
